Thea Kerman, Esq. has extensive experience structuring and negotiating the gamut of domestic and international agreements–from master toy license agreements with major toy companies to the variety of publishing and licensing agreements --which comprise a successful merchandising program.
Her services also include the purchase, sale or license of toys and comic characters to toy companies and for adaptation into motion pictures, television programs, live theater productions and other entertainment properties, product distribution agreements, agreements with licensing consultants, domestic and foreign licensing agents, sales representatives, product placement in theatrical motion pictures and television programs, and non-disclosure and confidentiality agreements.
Thea Kerman, Esq. assists clients in establishing and protecting their brands by providing strategic counseling with respect to their copyrights, trademarks, service marks, and domain names and implementing domestic and foreign registration programs.
LIVE THEATER
In the area of legitimate theater Thea Kerman, Esq. negotiated an option to acquire the right to produce a musical based upon the Mary Poppins books. She did the financial and production work for The Rink, a Kander and Ebb musical that starred Chita Rivera and Liza Minnelli, as well as a musical written by Joe Raposo (the composer of much of the music for Sesame Street) and William Gibson (the author of The Miracle Worker and Two for the Seesaw) based upon the Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy characters. Marvel Comics consulted her in connection with the musical based upon the comic book character Spider-Man.
