THEA J. KERMAN, ESQ. PRACTICING LAWYER IN THE STATE OF NEW YORK

Prior to establishing her own law firm in 1990 in Los Angeles, Thea Kerman, Esq. was the Senior Production Counsel for Tri-Star Pictures. She served as General Counsel for the Marvel Comics Group.

She is a frequent speaker at professional conferences including:  Counseling Clients in the Entertainment Industry Conference produced by the Practicing Law Institute, Warner Bros. Executive Training Program, UCLA Financial Planning for Women Seminar, Benjamin Cardozo School of Law, Yeshiva University, Tisch School of the Arts, Princeton University, Producers Guild of America and New York Women In Film & Television. While in Los Angeles, she taught business aspects of the film industry at UCLA.

Thea Kerman, Esq. is the author of numerous articles on protecting original ideas,  acquiring rights to properties to be made into motion pictures and television programs and fair use under the copyright law.

She is a member of several professional organizations including the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, where she served on the Entertainment Law Committee and the Copyright Law Committee, New York Women in Film and Television where she served as Treasurer and on the Board of Directors, and the New York Production Alliance where she serves as Secretary and on the Board of Directors. Thea Kerman, Esq. is a member of the Producers Guild of America.

She received her B.S. degree from Cornell University and her J.D. degree from New York University School of Law where she was invited to become a member of the Review of Law and Social Change.
